Ramanujan’s birthday today

A sad reminder of how we treat scholars, in India.

In December 2011, 91 years after his death, in recognition of his con-
tribution to mathematics, the Government of India declared that Ra-
manujan’s birthday (22 December) should be celebrated every year as
National Mathematics Day. Does all the noise and din on celebrating
Srinivasan
Ramanujan  make any sense ? Has any thing changed since then ? Things
have only changed from bad to worse. What would happen to Srinivasa Ramanujan, if
he were to come back to India today ? Read on :
